Oscar Sayles

Oscar Charles Sayles, age 65, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 14, 2023. He was born May 20, 1957, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, to the late Douglas and Vicylee (Sayles) Redmond. Oscar was an aspiring author also known as Cooley High and will be published in the near future. He was always a happy man who loved spending time with his family and friends and making others smile and laugh. Oscar could often be found writing and listening to the blues. He accepted Christ at an early age. Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Bell; children, Johnny (Anita) Bell of West Palm Beach, Florida; Joseph and James Bell both of Grand Rapids, MI; and Tyrone, Darick, Eric, Tammie, and Oscar Sayles all of Mississippi; siblings, Robert and John Coleman of Mississippi and Linda Coleman of Battle Creek, MI; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 3627 Linden Avenue S.E. at 36th Street (one block west of Eastern Avenue), Grand Rapids, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon), with Evangelist Charles Brown officiating. Burial will be at Garfield Park Cemetery where other members of Oscar's family are buried.
