Ophelia Colombel

Ophelia (Edwards) Colombel, age 69, of Paw Paw, Michigan, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the love of her family on Thursday, February 18, 2021. She was born July 16, 1951, to the late Robert and Mary (Marshall) Edwards. Ophelia graduated from Central High School in Grand Rapids. She attended Western Michigan University in the early 1970's where she met and married Philip Colombel Jr. in 1976 and had two children. Ophelia worked at Knouse Foods in Paw Paw where she retired in 2018 after 30 plus years. She loved grilling, singing, writing, fishing, gardening, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. Ophelia was a loving and caring person she loved to tell stories about her childhood when she was with family, and would give you the shirt off her back. Survivors include her two children, Philip (Angelica) Colombel III and Dawn (Dennis) Colombel-Brown; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Robbie Jean Wilson and Robert (Carolyn) Edwards Jr.; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and two special friends, Annette Radden and Luanne Degraaf. Ophelia was preceded in death by her parents; brother, A.C. Marshall; and sister, JoAnn Edwards. Per her wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be celebrated on Friday, March 5, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Freshwater Church, 600 E. Michigan Ave. Paw Paw, Michigan, followed by a luncheon. Please enter at entrance A for her services and masks are required. Ophelia's family would like to extend special thank you to all her friends and family who showed their love, support, and brought food during her time of illness.
