Nyle Faye Potter, Jr., age 61, of Gowen passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice.
The son of Nyle F. Sr. & Shirley (Haight) Potter, he was born on September 30, 1959 in Grand Rapids. On September 16, 1995, in Byron Center, he married Shari Lynne (Swiger) Gilchrist.
Nyle was a 1977 graduate of Godwin Heights High School in Wyoming, and worked in the building trades as a window installer. Prior to his fight with cancer, he would enjoy trips to the casino, treasured time spent in the woods hunting, or fishing in "Ol' Blue, but most of all he delighted in time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nyle Sr. & Shirley Potter. Surviving are his wife of over twenty-five years, Shari Potter; children, Timothy & Nicole Gilchrist and Heather Gilchrist; four grandchildren, Alicia, Hunter, CJ, and Kelton; his siblings, Dan & Judy Potter, Mary & Gary VanBeek, Dawn & Mike Oberlin, David & Patty Potter, Robert & Brenda Potter, and Jack & Beverly Potter; Shari's siblings, Gerald & Barbara Swiger, and Pamela & Robert Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Nyle's life will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2021 at McCarthy Park (592 S. Greenville Road, Greenville) with the Pastor Louie Mogdis, officiating.
Instead of flowers, Nyle would have appreciated contributions to Pheasant's Forever - Montcalm County Chapter (Attention to Dan: 6485 Staines Road, Sheridan, MI 48884) for their program called "No Child Left Indoors" which Nyle and his children and grandchildren enjoyed...the great outdoors.
