Natallie Irene Overholt, age 44, of Burr Oak, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at her childhood home, Spring River Ranch on Sunday, December 24, 2023. She was born March 24, 1979, in Sturgis, Michigan, to Howard and Joyce (Mabie) Overholt. Natallie graduated from Bronson High School with the class of 1998. She went on to attend Murry State University in Kentucky as a member of the rodeo team and she also attended Western Michigan University studying special education. She obtained her associate’s degree in Business Management from Kellogg Community College. She was a special education teacher and substitute taught at various schools in the area. In her spare time, she also did free-lance writing.
From a young age Natallie traveled with her father and sisters to rodeos, horse and cattle auctions. She loved trading horses but Natallie’s life passion was rodeo. At the age of 12 she qualified for the International Pro Rodeo Finals. That year she won the International Finals Barrel Racing Average Championship. From there she would go on to qualify many times for the International Pro Rodeo Finals and in 2014 win the World Championship in Barrel Racing. Natallie had numerous championships through out her rodeo career and was a well-known competitor.
She is survived by her six-year-old son, Dawsen; her mother, Joyce Overholt; four siblings, Kimberly Overholt, Coy (Jodi) Overholt, Nikie Overholt Morgan and Raina (Adrian) Chavez; loving nieces and nephews, Jake (Ally) Brown, Kate Brown, Gavin Overholt, Connor Overholt, Tyler Overholt, Sarah Morgan, Gracelyn Morgan, Kasie (Hunter) Bennet, Kristin Hudson and Kayla Hudson; and her horse Foals Fancy Jet, affectionately known as Casey, 2014-barrel racing horse of the year.
Natallie was preceded in death by her father, Howard Overholt and her maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Burr Oak Grange Hall, 106 5th St, Burr Oak, MI.
