Nancy Taylor

February 9, 1942 — March 13, 2021

Nancy L. Taylor of Cooper Township passed away on March 13, 2021 embraced in the love of her family. She was the first born to Maylan and Dorothy Thompson of Portage, MI. Nancy attended Portage Central High School and upon graduation in 1960 married the love of her life, Lauren Taylor. She committed her life to her family completely. Nancy never held a job outside of her home but she was the best wife and mom anyone could ask for. She lived that with passion. As a mom with small children she volunteered at school, went on all those fun field trips and was adored by many young ladies as their Girl Scout leader. As her children grew she taught them to be kind and generous but strong and independent. There was always an open door for the friends of her children and all who entered felt the love that filled the walls she called home. There are many who have called her "Mom Taylor" as she blessed their lives and filled their hearts with her love. There were also many friends who held a place in Nancy's journey and she cherished all of them throughout her years. She had friends from school that remained a part of her life for many years and those that she met along the way. Each one filled her life with much joy and many often spoke of their special memories. Those who knew this beautiful lady knew beyond question that she was an outpouring of love but also knew she wouldn't hesitate to tell you straight up what she thought. She was soft and gentle but could bristle up like a porcupine if you crossed the line. We will all miss that. Nancy is survived by her 4 children, Edwin Taylor of Kalamazoo, Loretta (Gary) Mosher of Highland, Deborah Fredericks of Parchment, Robin (Joseph) Brown of Kalamazoo. Her very much loved grandchildren, Christine (Zak) Thomas, Brandon (Angel) Taylor, Ashley (Nick) Dechnik, Amber Carter, Daniel (Nichole) Mosher, Kelly (Kris) Sanchez, Holly (Earl) Carr, Sara Phillips and Ashley Knight, Andrew (Pamela) Brown, Christopher Brown and many great grandchildren. Nancy is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie Thompson and Patti (Tim) Pollard. Nancy was preceded in death by her lifelong love and husband Lauren, her parents, her brother Ray Thompson and son-in-law Bill Fredericks. There will be a committal service for Nancy on March 23, 2021 at Fort Custer National Cemetery where she will be placed with Lauren. Due to current restrictions this will only include immediate family. April 10, 2021 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, the family will gather at the home of Robin (daughter) and Joe Brown to honor this extraordinary woman. They would be blessed to have you join them.
