Nancy Mccomb

July 17, 1932 — January 6, 2023

Nancy Lee McComb, age 90, of Sheridan, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 at Sheridan Community Hospital following a brief illness. The only child of Herbert Raymond & Helen Christine (Neilsen) Hansen, she was born on July 17, 1932 in Sheridan. After graduating from Greenville High School in 1949, she earned a business degree from the then Davenport Institute and retired from Eight-Cap where she worked as an accountant for many years. On August 20, 1950, at the Congregational Church in Sheridan, she married Floyd Russell "Russ" McComb and together they raised two children and enjoyed nearly 38 years of marriage until Russ passed away on April 14, 1989. An active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1964, Nancy served in a number of roles and committees at the church including Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, the Women's Circle, and chaired St. Paul's Centennial Committee in 1998. Proud of her Danish heritage, Nancy volunteered with the Danish Sisterhood Society, was a member of the Danish Cultural Center, the Amble Memorial Sanctuary (the former Dannebrog Lutheran Church) at South Sidney, and served as board secretary for the South Sidney Cemetery Association for many years. A world traveler, Nancy delighted in her trips with her husband, and after his death the trips she took with family and friends... especially her annual trip to Jamaica. In more recent years, she was also a member of the Red Hat Society and TOPS. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russ McComb; their children, David Russell "Dave" McComb on January 1, 1977, and Carol Marie Hansen on March 20, 2018; and an infant granddaughter, Kristin Coville. Surviving are her grandchildren, Nicole "Nikki" & the Honorable Adam J. Eggleston of Greenville and Chad & Rylie Coville of Sheridan; her great-grandchildren, Aiden Eggleston, Jayla Coville, Ashlyn Eggleston, and Kamdyn Coville; and a son-in-law, Carl Hansen of Greenville. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday. The Rev. Betsy Kamphuis, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at South Sidney Cemetery. Contributions in Nancy's memory to either the Danish Cultural Center or South Sidney Cemetery Association would be appreciated. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
