Miro Frank Kubala, 94, went home to the Lord peacefully on September 14, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
He was born on February 11, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Ann Kubala. Miro graduated from the University of Illinois and, for a year after graduating, became a flight instructor before chartering small planes. He also served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War Era, a period of service that formed an important part of his life.
In Grand Rapids, Miro was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He was also active in organizations that reflected his long standing interests, including the Michigan United Conservation Club. For many years, he served as President of the West Walker Sportsman Club, giving his time and leadership to that role.
Miro enjoyed fishing and gardening, pursuits that remained meaningful parts of his life. These interests, together with his aviation background, military service, church membership, and community involvement, shaped a life marked by steady commitment to the things he valued most.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Kubala, and his daughter, Kimberly Dawn Kubala. He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ann Kubala, and by his sister, Blanche Paulsen.
Mr. Kubala will be remembered for a life that included service, leadership, and enduring personal interests. His memory remains with those who knew him and with the communities of faith, conservation, and fellowship of which he was a part. A Memorial Service will be held on September 22, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2900 Burton Street SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546, Officiated by Pastor Jeremy Swem.
