Michael (Mike) Lee Sams, born on October 18, 1955, passed away on May 6, 2024. He was preceded in death by both of his parents and a younger sister. He is survived by his loving son, Robert (Robby) J Kovach, his six remaining siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and his extended Kovach family.
Mike was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, never missing an opportunity for a clever comment. He had a passion for chess and video games, although the latter often tested his patience. A skilled tinkerer, he was mechanically inclined, though not always successful in putting things back together!
He lived life at his own pace, in his own unique way. From parachuting in shoes instead of boots to waiting to learn to drive until in his 20s. Once he started driving, he never stopped! He spent over 40 years as a truck driver and was honored for driving 1 million miles accident-free. Mike took great pride in his career and enjoyed sharing his love for trucks with his family, especially his children and nieces and nephews.
Known affectionately as Mickle Pickle, Uncle Mikey, Papa Mike, and simply Mike, he will be remembered for his wit, his patience, kindness, and ability to connect with children. His legacy lives on in the memories and love he shared with all who knew him. "Good Job Maynard" - we love you Mike.
