Michael Polumbo

Michael Joseph Polumbo, 68, a longtime resident of Delaware, Ohio, who recently moved to Zeeland, Michigan to live with his daughter, her fiance, and grandchildren while battling lung cancer, peacefully passed away Wednesday July 6, 2016 with his family at his side. The youngest of ten children, he was born October 28, 1947 to Raphael and Filomena (Richutti) Polumbo in Akron, Ohio. Michael is a proud U.S. Navy Veteran (1965-1968) of the Vietnam War, where he completed Fire Fighting School and earned the National Defense Service Medal. He had a passion for fixing things and helping people. After his discharge from the Navy, he acquired several new talents and skills. He owned Brian's Auto Salvage in Fayetteville, N.C., made tires at Kelly Springfield in N.C., built mattresses at Dolly Madison Mattress Co., in Akron, OH, fabricated awnings in Akron as well, and he reworked and repaired electronic assemblies before and after earning his Certified IPC Specialist title in 2013. Surviving are his daughter, Tina Marie (Polumbo) Hagadorn; son-in-law, Andy Oonk; son, Brian Joseph Polumbo; sister, Mary Ann (Polumbo) Poprik; and brother, Steve Polumbo. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Briona Lynn Hagadorn, Shawn Edward Hagadorn, David Michael Hagadorn, Madisyn Hall, twins Michael Raphael and Joseph Daniel Polumbo, and Aubrey Jane Polumbo; several cousins; extended family, the Harter's, and Roger Mayes. As Michael lived throughout the country and traveled overseas during his naval tour, he had many loving friends, just know if your name is not listed, he is grateful to have known you. 15501 W.
