SFC Michael Edward Isom, Army (Ret.), age 59, of Alto, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 20, 2022. He was born June 7, 1963, in San Francisco, California, to the late Lawrence and Maud (Chapman) Isom.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army achieving the rank of an E-7 Staff Sergeant intelligence Analyst. He served for a total of 29 years in the Army and 12 of those years were with The Grand Rapids Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Department of Justice, with his Contributions in the field of Drug Law Enforcement. Michael retired in 2011. He was an accomplished professional artist and enjoyed fine scale models, canoeing, camping, scuba diving, and traveling with family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife & soul mate, Nilei Isom; children, Dylan Isom of Comstock Park, Michigan; Emily Isom of Alto, Michigan; Ethan Kroesing of Ionia, Michigan; Laurie Harrington of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Nicole Pols of Hudsonville, Michigan; brother, Martin L. Isom and his wife of Santa Rosa California; sisters, Cathy (Larry) Sadler-Villella of Pelican Rapids, Minnesota and Theresa (Clark) Isom of Saint Bonifacius, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Andy Sanchez of Las Vegas, New Mexico; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maud Elizabeth Isom in 2003; father, Lawrence Edward Isom in 2014; and sister, Patricia Isom in 2017.
Burial and military honors will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Road, Augusta, MI 49012.
