Meryl B. Vincent, age 85, of Oakfield Township, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 17, 2012 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The daughter of Carl Otto & Lula Beth (Riches) Nielsen, she was born on Jan. 31, 1927 in Pine Township. A 1945 graduate of Greenville High School, Meryl worked as a secretary at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company, and was a member of Ashley Baptist Church.
On June 14, 1963, at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, she married Duane Vincent, who survives, along with their two children, Barry & Kate Vincent of Arkansas, and Penny & Lyle Fales of Greenville; four grand children, Collin & Stephanie Vincent of Denver, Gavin & Nicole Vincent of Denver, Holly Specht, and Samantha Specht, both of Greenville; as well as many friends. Meryl was preceded in death by her son, Danny, in 1965.
Meryl loved traveling, southern gospel quartets and board games, especially Scrabble and Skip-Bo.
Visitation is from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, at Ashley Baptist Church, 10463 Belding Road (Highway M-44 West), Belding, where funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon. The Rev. Dr. David A. Oliver, pastor of Ashley Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at Spencer Mills Cemetery near Lincoln Lake.
