Mermian Charlyne Bellah

Mermian Charlyne Bellah, age 91, of Grattan Township, formerly of Lansing and Farwell, passed away Tuesday evening, February 4, 2025 at home under the loving care of her family and Elara Caring Hospice. The daughter of Charles Owen & Lillian LouVanna (Jones) Samons, she was born on September 5, 1933 in Maynard, Arkansas. On October 30, 1949, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, she married Charles Edward Bellah and together they made their home in Lansing where they raised three children, had attended the Holmes Road Church of Christ, and enjoyed nearly 56 years of marriage until Charles passed away on October 24, 2005. Mermian also worked outside the home, retiring as a supervisor with the State of Michigan’s Department of Civil Service in Lansing. She enjoyed league bowling, playing Bridge, Words with Friends, and Scrabble, as well as painting and crocheting. Gifted with a green thumb, Mermian also enjoyed gardening, and was a skilled woodworker as well. For the last two-plus years she made her home with her grandson, Doug Bellah and his family. She was preceded in death her parents; her husband; a daughter, Peggy Duff; and a son, Richard Bellah. Surviving are a son, Charles & Melinda Bellah, Jr. of Mason; a daughter-in-law, Susan Bellah of Eaton Rapids; a son-in-law, Paul Duff of Maynard, Arkansas; two brothers, Olan & Mae Samons and Charles Owen Samons; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Christiansen’s Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Pastor Dave Hansen of Plainfield Baptist Church will officiate and committal services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Muskegon.
