Maynard Dale Miles, age 85, left this world on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, passing peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Maynard was born on August 9, 1940, in Westville, Michigan, where he spent his entire life. Maynard grew up farming with his dad and working at the local saw mill. After graduating from Edmore High School in 1958, he worked for a pallet company. He then moved on to work at Lobdell Emery, where he worked until retirement.
Maynard was a great storyteller and loved to tell jokes. He was passionate about hunting, fishing, and gardening. Maynard passed this love to his family and friends. His trip of a lifetime was elk hunting in Wyoming. When he wasn’t enjoying his many hobbies, he checked in with friends and family, sharing stories and laughter. He looked forward to his daily walk down to the mailbox, and on the way back, he always stopped to visit with the “Kieff Boys.” Those chats became a cherished part of his routine and a reflection of his deep connection to his friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Floy Miles; two sisters, sisters, Darlene Steele and Jan Shine; and a step-son, Lynn Heinlen.
Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Cheryl Muscott Heinlen Miles; his children, Kim (Del) Christensen, Karla (Richard) Rasmussen, Char (Jim) Braman, Chuck Miles (Lauren), DeAnn Heinlen, David (Lene) Heinlen, Christina (Mike) Johnson, Michelle Heinlen, and Grace Heinlen; his grandchildren, Brad (Rachel) Rasmussen, Megan (Brian) Fosmore, Linsey Christensen and Chris, Ryan (Ashley) Christensen, Taylor Braman, James Braman Jr, Dustin (Recia) Crawford, Brandon (Tori) Crawford, Austin Heinlen, John Donnelly, Luke Donnelly, Amber Streeter, Alicia Streeter and Jace Heinlen; his great-grandchildren, Grayson, Fletcher, and Nora Jane Crawford, Alex, Jacob and Owen Barber, Kolt, Kase, Keely Christensen; and his sister, Bonnie (Mouse) Shine. He also leaves behind his good hunting and fishing buddy, Mike Collins; and his fur babies, Honey and Otis.
Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Christiansen’s Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
