Maxine Preston

Maxine Evelyn Preston, age 88, of Edmore, passed away early Monday morning, May 29, 2023 at Lakeview Terrace with the family at her side. The daughter of C.M. & Evelyn May (Bennett) Musson, she was born on September 10, 1934 near Six Lakes and was a 1953 graduate of Edmore High School. On June 20, 1953, in Edmore, she married Vernon Preston, and together they enjoyed 63 years of marriage, raised seven children, and were members of the Edmore First Church of God. When her children were young, Maxine took in laundry and also was the neighborhood babysitter. She also worked at Maxfield's Restaurant in Wyman, as well as working in food service for 23 years at the former Tri-County Community Hospital in Edmore. She had volunteered as a Girl Scout and 4-H Leader and a Sunday School teacher, enjoyed quilting, crocheting, reading, and hayrides with the Handy Creek Saddle Club, but found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Preston on December 19, 2016; a brother, William Musson; and a granddaughter, Lana Nicole Verus. Surviving are her children; Kathy Methner & Steve Benjamin, Irv & Kim Preston, Bonnie & Marty Reed, Amy & Bob Reihl, Aaron & Tracy Preston, Jason & Kandi Preston and Wile & Jessica Preston, twenty-two grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchild. Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Edmore First Church of God, 123 E. Main Street, Edmore, where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
