Matthew James McDonnell, age 18, of Greenville, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. The son of Steven Wayne & Renee Heather (Parsons) McDonnell, he was born on July 13, 1999 at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, California where his father served with the U.S. Navy.
Matt was completing his senior year at Greenville High School where he enjoyed both metal and wood shop classes and he aspired to a career in engineering. He also enjoyed playing video games, frisbee golf, and worked at the Greenville West McDonald's.
His paternal grandparents, Charles & Carolyn McDonnell, and his maternal grandfather, James Parsons, preceded him in death. Surviving are his father and step-mother, Steve & Melanie McDonnell of Greenville; his mother and step-father, Renee & Kevin Boles of Indianapolis, Indiana; two brothers, Mike McDonnell of Los Angeles, California, and Zack McDonnell of Greenville; three sisters, Nicole McDonnell and Charleigh McDonnell, both of Greenville and Amanda Boles of Indianapolis; grandparents, Sandy & Walt Thompson, Denny Seidl, and Cindy Beaufore; many aunts and uncles; and several cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Matt's life from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101, 1320 W. Washington Street, Greenville. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place.
