Mathew Trierweiler, age 81, of Westphalia, went to the fields in heaven on Tuesday, April 5, 2016. The son of Joseph & Antoinette (Schneider) Trierweiler, he was born on July 4, 1934 in Westphalia.

Mathew was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Westphalia, and a graduate of St. Mary High School. Mathew was a proud US Army Veteran, of the Korean War and was stationed in Staten Island, NY during that time. He was a life-long farmer and enjoyed antique tractor pulls, slow pitch softball, and stock car racing.
Mathew was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Joan (Ray) Thelen, Ernestine (Warren) Dolan, and Carolyn (John) Koenigsknecht; and brothers-in-law, Murv Huston and Bruno Thelen. Surviving are his wife, Marguerite (Scollon) Trierweiler; children, Michael (Jane) Scollon, Annette (Randy) Schrauben, Joseph (Janet) Trierweiler, and Lori (Jeff) Weiss; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Mary Jane (Gene) Schoendorf, Catherine Huston, Jean Thelen, Marilyn (Bernard) Thelen; many nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Shawn.
Memorial services will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Westphalia, at a later date.
Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
