Mary Vanzandt

Mary Phillis VanZandt, age 80, of Trufant, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at home. One of ten children born to Leo & Alberta (Colegrove) Headley, she was born on May 17, 1941 in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. On March 11, 1961, in Langston, she married Claude Martin VanZandt and together they raised one son and enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Mary delighted in tending to her flowers and gardening, will long be remembered as a great cook, and enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino. She had also worked outside the home as a school bus driver for Lakeview Community Schools. She was in death by her parents; six brothers, Virgil Headley, Robert Headley, Leon Headley, Richard Headley, Leonard Headley, and Jerry Headley; and two sisters, Irene Riley and Wanda Jean Chrisman. Surviving are her husband, Claude VanZandt of Trufant; their son, Scott & Aschelle VanZandt of Lakeview; three grandchildren, Aaron VanZandt of Texas, Austin & Codey Urbanc of Hermansville, and Liah VanZandt of Lakeview; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Urbanc, Bryce Urbanc, and Samara Urbanc; a brother, Donald Headley; and many nieces and nephews.
