We come together to celebrate the life of a remarkable woman, Mary Jo Misner, who was born on February 5, 1965, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The loving wife, caring mother, and proud sister, Mary, passed away on March 9, 2025. She was a woman of strength and resilience, whose warmth and laughter touched the lives of everyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path. As the American poet Maya Angelou once said, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Mary lived these words, leaving an indelible imprint on all she met.
Mary was a dedicated factory worker, specializing in metal die casting. Her commitment to her work was recognized with numerous safety awards for her exceptional forklift driving. She was a woman of great intellect and drive, earning a college degree and setting an example of lifelong learning for those around her. Mary's quiet evenings were often spent with her beloved collection of Teddy bears, watching her favorite television shows. She was a steadfast resident of Grand Rapids, where she was born and raised, and where she chose to build her life.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Andrew Misner, whom she married on August 12, 1988. She is also survived by her mother, JoAnn Beal, and her sisters, Barbara (David) Wieten, Sandra (Dan) Hankinson, and Lori Rozanski. Mary will also be dearly missed by her nephews, Dan (Lisa) Hankinson, Steve (Jennifer) Hankinson, Travis Wieten, and Christopher (Kaylee) Wieten; her nieces, Jennifer (Steve) Hankinson, Lisa (Dan) Hankinson, and Kaylee (Christopher) Wieten; her son-in-law, Matt (Trisha) Trzeciak; and most importantly, her beloved daughter, Trisha (Matt) Trzeciak. She is preceded in death by her father, Edward Beal.
As we mourn the loss of Mary, we also celebrate the joy, love, and strength she brought to our lives. As poet Emily Dickinson wrote, "Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality." Mary's love remains with us, her spirit alive in our memories.
