Mary Louise Allen, age 89, of Whitehall, Michigan, passed away Saturday morning, July 25, 2026 at her home under the loving care of her family and hospice.

The daughter of Robert & Annie P. (Epplett) Lighton, she was born on December 3, 1936 in Muskegon, Michigan, and graduated from Whitehall High School.

On July 30, 1955, she married Harold Ira Allen and together they raised three children and enjoyed almost 71 years of marriage.

A devoted wife and mother, Mary also worked outside the home, retiring from Howmet Alcoa. She was a member of the White Lake Eagles and enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, traveling and entertaining friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Annie Lighton; and siblings, Carol Lighton and Robert C. Lighton.

Surviving are her husband, Harold “Jim” Allen of Whitehall; their children James “Jim” & Denise Allen of Grass Lake, Michigan, Cindy & Jeff Cordo of North Muskegon, Michigan, and Terri Greene of Riverview, Florida; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Rex & Pat Allen of Whitehall, Michigan, and David & Linda Allen of Whitehall, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews

A celebration of Mary’s life is being planned for family at a later date.
