Mary A. Hicks, age 89, of Belding, passed away Friday evening, December 18, 2020 at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of William Chase & Doris M. (Wright) Walker, she was born on May 27, 1931 in Greenville and was a graduate of Greenville Senior High School.
On August 26, 1950, in Greenville, she married Jack R. Hicks and together they enjoyed 42 years of marriage until Jack passed away on January 16, 1993. A devoted wife, mother, and grandma, Mary always put taking care of her family first and enjoyed gardening and yard work... especially tending to her flowers,
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Hicks; her parents-in-law, Harland & Rose Hicks; their son, Alan Douglas Hicks, on December 11, 2014; her sister, Adelia J. Londo on June 10, 2016; and two brothers, Alfred Craig Walker on July 6, 2000, and William Wright Walker on April 17, 2020.
Surviving are her children, Catherine Hicks of Belding, Jack & Bonnie Hicks of Greenville, Robert Hicks of Carson City, Scott & Karen Hicks of Belding, and Rick & Kay Hicks of Gowen; twelve grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. (Due to current State of Michigan public health orders, regrettably all events are private and by invitation only. Masks are required.) The Rev. Kenneth Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.
