Mary Ellsworth

Mary Nell (Smith) Ellsworth, age 74, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. Mary was born November 15, 1949, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late Henry and Nellie (Hoogendoorn) Smith. Mary was survived by her children, Christian James (Beth) Betts and Sara Nell (Brian) Smith; grandchildren, Kelsee (Christopher), Jaylyn (Sidney), and Keagan (Emma); great-grandchildren, Nora and Brooks; siblings, Sara Jane Smith and Stephen N. Smith; and many loving nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Ellsworth; her parents, Henry and Nellie Smith; and her siblings, Joy Oostendorp and Paul Smith. Per Mary’s wishes her body will be donated to science for others to gain knowledge and understanding to hopefully further medical advances, no formal services will be held at this time.
