Marlene Ruth Huey, age 56, of Greenville, passed away early Saturday morning, December 11, 2010 under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The daughter of Angus & Donna (Alick) Huey, she was born on March 26, 1954 in Greenville and began working at the age of 18 at the former Gibson Refrigerator Company until the plant closed in 2006. For 32 years she was a member of UAW Local 137.
A devoted mother to twin daughters, Marlene also enjoyed the outdoors especially camping and taking care of her lawn and yard. Each year she looked forward to celebrating the Christmas Holiday with her family. She found her greatest joys in having coffee every morning with her sister and in spoiling her granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; her brother, Deber Oakley Huey; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Powers.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa Marie & Ronald Dean, and Leslie Ann & Donald Hammond II, all of Greenville; her granddaughters, Ashley Marie Hammond, and Layla Marie Dean; her sister, Alice Powers of Greenville; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert & Jolene Huey of Belding, Paul & Carol Huey of Stanton, and Theresa Huey; and many special nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation with the family is from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Greenville Community Church, where memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. The Rev. Joel Heron, will officiate and a luncheon will follow the ceremony. Envelopes for memorial contributions will be available at the church.
