Mrs. Marjorie Jean Laurent, age 72, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 25, 2006 at her home under the loving care of her family. The daughter of Francis & Caroline (Burdick) Robbins, she was born on April 18, 1934 in Grand Rapids. Her family later moved to Cadillac, where she met her future husband, Richard T. Laurent, in high school. After graduating from Cadillac High School, she earned her nursing degree from Mercy Central School of Nursing in 1955. She and Dick were married on June 9, 1956 at St. Anns Catholic Church, in Cadillac, moving to Greenville in 1966.
A devoted wife and mother, Marjorie found her lifes greatest joy in her family. She also served her church, St. Charles Catholic Church, in the funeral luncheon ministry. She was a long time supporter of St. Charles Catholic School, having served on its board of education and was proud that all six of her children graduated from the school.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Ruth Ann Nackerman.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Richard T. Laurent; their children, James & Betty Laurent of Belmont, Mary Ann Czanderna of Greenville, Joseph & Amy Laurent, and Steven & Anne Laurent, all of Ada, Dr. Amy Laurent of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Michael Laurent of Oak Park, Illinois; a brother, James & Maureen Robbins of Petoskey; two brothers-in-law, Rod Nackerman of Lake Orion, and John & Joyce Laurent of Cadillac; thirteen grandchildren, Brian, Kally, & Andrew Laurent, Kristin, Alec, & Kaitlin Czanderna, Genevieve & Nicholas Laurent, Frances & Maxim Laurent, Gabriela & Jacob Perez, and Maria Laurent; and several nieces and nephews.
