Marilyn Marie (Archer) Slocum of Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born November 11, 1929, in Lansing, Michigan to the late Rexford and Mamie (Peables) Archer. She graduated from East Lansing High School in 1948, and married the love of her life, Ronald Lewis “Mike” Slocum, on July 16, 1948, in East Lansing, Michigan at Peoples Church. They moved to Perry, Michigan where they built their home and raised their 6 daughters. Marilyn and Mike celebrated 62 years of marriage together before Mike passed away on January 8, 2011.

Survivors include her 6 daughters, Gail (Stephen) Dick, Deborah (Richard) Hanson, Michelle Taylor, Lori Shirey, Janice (Jeff) Molzan, and Amy Salmeto; grandchildren, Jamison Dick, Joshua Dick, Jeremiah Dick, Julie (Erik) Eglite, Peter (Heather) Hanson, R.Ed (Cherlle) Taylor, Andrew (Kristel) Shirey, Elizabeth (Steven) Stoutenburg, Leslie (Scott) Kushion, Raymond (Heather) Nostrant, Jeff (Amber) Molzan, Jessica Molzan, and Kyle Gibson; many great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Mike; her parents, Rexford and Mamie; four grandchildren, Christopher Dick, Nicholas Taylor, Jacob Nostrant, and Amanda Gibson; two sons-in-laws, Robert C. Taylor and David Shirey; and siblings, Joyce (Ralph) Shetterly, Patricia Bachmann, and Ronald Archer.

Per Marilyn’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and on what would have been their 77th wedding anniversary, Marilyn will be reunited with her beloved husband Mike at Green Lawn Cemetery. A celebration of life service will occur at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Wildfire Ministries and Prayer Center, 10624 S State Rd, Morrice, MI 48857.
