Marie Wood

Marie Karen Wood, age 96, of Greenville, went to be with her Lord on Monday morning, December 10,2012 from Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids after a sudden illness. The daughter of Edward L. & Nora (Wilberg) Everts, she was born on August 6, 1916 in Greenville. Marie was a lifelong faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Greenville, where she was involved in many of the churchs activities over the years. She retired from United Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a cook, after 22 years of service. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Wood; a son, Ronald James Wood; a sister, Ruth Benedict; and a brother, Russell Everts. Surviving are two daughters, Shirley & Richard Higgins of Ada, and Betty J. Wood of Kentwood; a son, John & Leslie Anne Wood of Greenville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visitation is Thursday from 1-2 p.m. at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rev. Paul Dickson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville.
