Mrs. Marie Hissong, age 83, of Greenville, passed away late Tuesday morning, Oct. 25, 2005 at Spectrum Health United Memorial-Kelsey Campus, Lakeview. The daughter of Simon & Wynona (King) Witham, she was born on July 27, 1922.
A devoted wife and mother, Marie found her greatest joy in her family. She enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, and puzzles, but her favorite past time was watching television.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl J. Hissong in 1974; two sons, David Hissong in 1968, and Jerry Hissong in 2001; two brothers, Vernon Witham and Jack Witham; and three sisters, Ethel Main, Wanita Whitman, and Wilma Williams.
Surviving are her children, Carol & Fred Smalley of Sheridan, Lois & Larry Bannen of Greenville, Mary & Floyd Cooper, Earl John Hissong, all of Sidney, and Janet & Michael Peterman of Edmore; a brother and a sister-in-law, Marvin & Karla Witham of Greenville; over thirty grandchildren and one hundred great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005 from the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger, pastor of Shiloh Community Church, officiating. Private burial will follow at Sidney Township Cemetery. Visitation is also on Friday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Envelopes for memorial contributions are available at the funeral home.
