Marguerite Boyd

February 11, 1921 — December 2, 2011

BOYD -- Marguerite Tourre Boyd, born February 11, 1921 in Muskegon, died December 2, 2011 at Hospice House at Heartwood Lodge. Marguerite graduated from Mercy School of Nursing in 1942. Thus began an illustrious and long career in her well chosen field. She was an industrial nurse at Lakey Foundry and tried to join the Navy Nurse Corps, but because her job was considered part of the war effort was not allowed. In the late 40's she and her sister Mary re-opened Tourre's Soda Grill, returning to she true passion, nursing, in the '50's. She married her Man for all Seasons, Dr. Devere Boyd, who predeceased her in 1993. Marguerite's family was grateful for the compassionate care given at Heartwood Lodge and North Ottawa Community Hospice in Spring Lake. Her favorite charity was the Rescue Mission of Muskegon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic & Josephine Tourre; sisters: Pauline Tourre Shipman and Mary Tourre; brothers: Frank, Steve, Tony Tourre and infant Peter Albert (her twin). Marguerite leaves to embrace her memory, her sisters: Violet Tourre and Stella Tourre Wasserman of Muskegon and Betty Tourre LeBlanc of Holland. She also leaves several fortunate nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who will forever remember her as the Best Iodine Bunny Painter on small wounds, the quickest giver of necessary vaccines, the best Christmas Hostess in the universe, the greatest carver of Halloween pumpkins and the dispenser of other unique memories. The song says it best. "The Song is ended," but Maggie's Melody will surely linger on!"
