Margaret Rankin

Margaret (Meg) Therese Rankin, age 61, of Stanwood, Michigan passed away March 12, 2023. She was born February 16,2023 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Frederick and Agnes "Pete" (Peters) Gerke. Margaret leaves behind her loving husband Joseph "Spike" Rankin, stepdaughter Renae (Sam) Gavitt, grand daughter Rowan Gavitt, siblings Fredrick Gerke, Celeste Gerke, Catherine Fessenden, Ann Gerke (Tom), nieces and nephews Jennifer Gerke, Stephen (Sarah) Gerke, Jessica Westra, Nathan Malmyga, Simon Fessenden, Alex (Marcela) Levy and great nephew August Levy. Meg was preceded in death by her parents Fredrick and Pete, bother Stephen Gerke and her niece Kate Westra Levy. Meg was born in Eastown and had an amazing childhood filled with family, a myriad of cousins and Hampton Street neighbors. Her love of the north woods prompted her and her husband to move north and fulfill dreams of living on a river. She adored her cats Gus and Ruby. She was happiest snuggled up by the river in one of her many cozy sweaters. A memorial service is pending. Donations may be made in her honor to The Kids Food Basket at https://kidsfoodbasket.org/.
