Margaret Metzger Knepper passed away on February 25, 2026, at the age of 66.
She was born on September 6, 1959, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, to Henry Metzger and Anna Heaney. Of German and Irish heritage, Margaret carried with her a lifelong sense of compassion, resilience, and warmth that defined who she was.
Margaret dedicated her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally. As a Registered Nurse at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan, she touched countless lives through her kindness, patience, and unwavering commitment to those in need. Nursing was not just her career—it was a reflection of who she was at her core.
Her compassion extended far beyond her work. Margaret was the kind of person who would give the shirt off her back to a stranger, always putting others before herself without hesitation. She had a gift for making people feel safe, cared for, and understood.
In her quieter moments, Margaret found joy in life’s simple comforts. She loved spending time with her family and her cats, often relaxing while binge-watching her favorite crime shows, especially Criminal Minds and Law & Order. She had a warm presence and a sense of humor that brought laughter and light into any room she entered.
Margaret was preceded in death by her daughter, Marian Knepper.
Above all, she was a devoted mother. She is survived by her son, Dylan Knepper—her caretaker, her best friend, and the center of her world. The bond they shared was deep and unbreakable; she was his world, and he was hers.
Margaret’s life was defined by love, sacrifice, and compassion. The impact she had on those around her cannot be measured, and her absence will be deeply felt.
Though she is gone, the love she gave so freely will continue to live on—in the people she helped, the lives she touched, and in the heart of her son, who will carry her with him always.
