Margaret Beahan

September 23, 1938 — December 6, 2021

Margaret Ann Beahan, age 83 of Lansing, died peacefully on Monday, December 6, 2021. She was born in Flint and was a longtime resident of Lansing. Margaret studied at Nazareth College, Western Michigan University, and Michigan State University. She began her career as a teacher in Detroit and an administrator at Nazareth College, and continued on to her doctoral studies at MSU, which led to her 20-year career in the Michigan Department of Education, retiring as the Supervisor of the Proprietary School Unit. Margaret enjoyed her worldwide travels, St John Parish activities, bridge and book clubs, and mostly the gathering of family and friends and the opportunity to help others. Margaret is survived by Ellen Burns; her siblings, Catherine (Edward) Shea, Thomas (late Deborah), Mary (late John) McGovern, and Frank Beahan. Also survived by seven treasured nieces and nephews, their spouses and children; the Burns family; Connelly cousins, and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Raymond and Anita Connelly Beahan; her sister, Ann (late Arnie) Wallace; and her beloved grandparents and other relatives. Visitation with the family is from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at St. John Parish, 327 M.A.C. Avenue, East Lansing, where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated beginning at 12:00 Noon on Saturday. Interment will be at New Calvary Cemetery in Flint. Instead of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Margaret's memory to Congregation of St Joseph (www.csjoseph.org).
