Lynette C. Truhn passed away on December 1, 2023, at home in Holland, Michigan, with her husband, Craig Brumels, and her companion dog, Ziggy, by her side. She was born on July 8. 1950, in St. Joseph, Michigan, to the late Carolyn and Kenneth Truhn.
Lynn went to school in Benton Harbor, and also attended GVSU with an interest in art. She became a well-known sign painter for many years, with her work displayed all over western Michigan. She worked at the Holland Sentinel selling advertising until she retired.
Lynn enjoyed many things in life. She was an avid sailor, venturing with Craig on their sailboat from Holland to the Bahamas. She had a passion for all creatures. From her own parade of beloved pets, to the wildlife roaming the yard, the woods and the water, she loved them all. Nature was the subject of her drawing and photographs. She took great pride in the landscape around her home and also the certified Nature Walk she built and maintained her beautiful wooded backyard. It brought her great joy to cook for her people, whom she loved fiercely. She enjoyed a good glass of red wine, appreciated a beautiful day on the deck, loved a fast car and a party. She will be greatly missed.
Lynn leaves behind her sister, Debra VandeBunte and husband Jim Kaminski; her brother, Denny and Linda Truhn; and many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Spectrum Hospice, Craig’s daughter, Cori Gould and our friend, Paula Wolters for all the help and compassion received.
A celebration of life in honor of Lynn will be held at a later date for family and friends.
At Lynn’s suggestion, a donation in her memory to the Harbor Humane Society in West Olive, to help animals, would be greatly appreciated.
