Lyle Arlin Holsted, age 61, left weariness and earthly cares behind him to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as he was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from his family and friends by the coronavirus on Friday, November 27, 2020.
The son of Clarence & Mabel (Perkins) Holsted, he was born on June 12, 1959. Lyle attended schools in Mecosta, Remus, and Lakeview, graduating from Lakeview High School in 1978.
He went to work at Electrolux in Greenville, where he met and married Louise Laferty in 1980. She became the center of his life and they were married 40 years. He and Louise worked at Electrolux for 27 years until the plant closed in 2006. After that, he went to work at Wolverine World Wide in Big Rapids and Ventra in Evart. He was a very friendly, easy-going man. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor, and he enjoyed making people laugh. He made many friends wherever he worked.
A jack-of-all trades, Lyle could do many things well. He used these abilities many times to help his family. He had many interests including playing chess, raising ducks, cooking, canning, and working on vehicles, but he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and getting together with his siblings.
Lyle was a very loving, caring, devoted, and helpful husband and brother. He was the rock and core of the family for his wife and siblings and kept them connected. He called his siblings regularly to check on them and helped them in many ways. In his last phone call to us, his last words to us were, "I'm praying for you guys. If you need anything, give me a call."
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gary Holsted; and his brother-in-law, Arlin Frantz.
He leaves behind to mourn their great loss his wife, Louise Holsted,; his little chihuahua, "Peanut"; three brothers, Ernie & Lorie Holsted, Eugene & Nancy Holsted, and Larry & Dianne Holsted; two sisters: Gloria Frantz, and Dolores & James Morehouse; siblings-in-law, Roy Laferty, David Laferty, Kathy & William Rose, and Wayne Laferty; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces; and many friends.
Private committal services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Riverside Cemetery, Langston, with Pastor Robert Cairns officiating. Due to state orders regarding public gatherings, attendance is limited to 25 persons and will be by invitation only and masks are required.
He left so suddenly,
We didn't get to say goodbye,
Now we're anxiously awaiting
That reunion in the sky.
