Luis Alberto Reyes

Luis Alberto Reyes, age 62, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on September 5, 2026, after a battle with cancer.

Luis was born on December 31, 1963, in Cidra, Puerto Rico, to Luis Angel Reyes and Rosa Santos. His grandmother, Maria Molina Sanchez, played an important role in raising him.

Luis spent much of his life in the Grand Rapids area. A free spirit, he lived life on his own terms. He enjoyed working with his hands and could work on just about anything, especially cars and houses. He was often helping someone with a project or picking up a side job where his skills could be put to use. Luis had a way of making people laugh and was known for telling the same stories over and over.

Luis leaves behind his four children, Raul Reyes, Tomas Reyes, Estella Anger, and Aronica Fountain, as well as 10 grandchildren.

He is also survived by his father, Luis Angel Reyes; his stepmother, Iris Reyes; his sisters, Doliza Reyes-Bibbs and Vanessa Braden; and other extended family and loved ones.

Luis was preceded in death by his biological mother, Rosa Santos; his grandmother, Maria Molina Sanchez; and his grandfather, Tomas Casillas Reyes.

The family would also like to acknowledge the Cavasos family, who held a special place in Luis’s life.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
