Celebrating the Life of Lovell McMichael Sunrise: 02/12/1936 Sunset: 05/08/2021 Lovell McMichael, was born on February 12, 1936, to the late Zanney McMichael and Essie Flowers McMichael in Kosciusko, MS. Lovell was the 7th of 16 children born out of this union. Lovell was preceded in death by her husband, James Oliver; parents, Zanney and Essie; and siblings, Jimmie McMichael (MS), Harvey McMichael (IN), Dowell McMichael (MD), Hazel Galance (MI), Helen McMichael-Longstreet (IL), and June Hall (IL). Lovell leaves many to mourn her passing including her children, Sandra (Richard) LaGrone (MI), Diane Ward (VA), and Marina McMillan (GA); 10 grandchildren, Cassandra (Darrell) Christophe (AZ), Roy (Rochelle) LaGrone (MI), Richard LaGrone Jr. (MI), Erika (Prince Ofori) Russell-Ofori (NY), Robert LaGrone (MI), Marcel McMillan (MI), Ray LaGrone (MI), Rodney LaGrone (MI), Madison McMillan (TN), and Mekhi Mason (GA); 3 great-grandchildren, Rylee LaGrone (MI), Terryon McMillan (TN), and Giovanna Ofori (NY); siblings, Bill McMichael (AZ), Grace Ikenaga (MI), Barbara (Manny) Raymer (IL), Ruth (David) Robertson (MS), Kay (Frances) McMichael (MI), Catherine (Alvin) Davis (MS), Zanney Edward McMichael (IL), Ida Assfy (MI), and Linda McMichael (NC); and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Lovell began working as a young adult in her families business; her family owned 120 acres of land and would sell cotton, produce, and animals for the family's income. Lovell moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she lived out her adult life. She was hired as an Elevator Operator from 1960-1966 at the Pantlind Hotel. In 1966 Lovell started working at G&T Industries where she worked in Plastic Fabrication until her retirement in 2005. After retirement Lovell loved spending time with and helping raise her grandkids. Lovell completed High School and also completed one year of Community College at Grand Rapids Junior College. She shared with her family that she always aspired to be a Journalist. Lovell volunteered for the American Red Cross and Loved playing her piano for her family in her home. She was baptized in Mississippi at the age of 12, was of Christian Faith, and a member of True Light Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Family of Lovell McMichael wishes to extend sincere thanks and deep gratitude for the many expressions of sympathy, love, and consideration shown in their time of bereavement. Special Thanks and Appreciation to Ida Assfy for your loving nature, unyielding dedication, acts of selflessness, and support in caring for Lovell from 2018-2021. Per Lovell's wishes no services will be held and private burial will take place in Kent Memorial Gardens, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
