On December 12, 2023, Louis Vergil Rawson, a beloved husband and the father of five children, passed away to be with the Lord. He was 90 years old. Louis was born on February 10, 1933, in Saginaw, the son of John William and Crystal (Swinehart) Rawson. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1953 until he was honorably discharged in May 1956, and subsequently worked in various locations in Florda and Michigan, before retiring from Meijer, Inc. in 1985 where he worked in the maintenance department as a refrigeration mechanic.
Louis met Dorris Mae Hathaway and they were married ta Casnovia Reformed Church in Casnovia on September 15, 1956. They celebrated 67 years of marriage.
Some of the activities enjoyed by Louis over the years were camping with his family, picking up rocks on the Lake Michigan shoreline, fishing at the family cottage, and bow hunting. He also helped manage the family’s annual vegetable garden, and at one point, raised beef cattle for the family’s needs.
Louis was a Godly man and a loving husband and father. For many years, he served on church boards, taught Sunday School classes, and was involved in evangelism. He, along with Dorris, helped support missionaries and others in need throughout his lifetime as much as possible. Louis lived for Christ and read the Word of God daily. He will be remembered as a Godly example to all who knew him.
Louis is survived by his wife, Dorris, who resides in Sparta; as well as five children, Diane, Donald, Richard, Thomas and Timothy. Cremation services were provided by Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care. Louis is now in Heaven with our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
