Lois "Jean" Crandall

Lois Jean Crandall, age 64, of Crystal, Michigan passed away Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Corewell Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. The daughter of Ron & Lois Jean (Trumbull) Meekma, she was born on September 11, 1961 in Alma, Michigan. On December 23, 1980 in Mason, Michigan, she married Neil Edwin Crandall and together they enjoyed over 40 years of marriage and raised three children.

If you knew Jean, you knew two things: she was going to tell you exactly what she thought, and if you needed her, she’d be there before you even had to ask. She was fiercely loyal, incredibly hardworking, and the definition of dependable. For over 30 years, she showed up to work without calling in sick or missing a single day. That wasn’t because it was easy—it was because that’s just who she was. When Jean made a commitment, she kept it. She was the glue that held our family together. Strong, resilient, and stubborn! She faced life’s challenges head-on. No matter what she was going through herself, she always found a way to put others first. Her children and family always came before anything else, and there wasn’t much she wouldn’t do to help the people she loved.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Meekma and Lois Weaver; her husband, Neil Crandall; and her sister Bonnie Jo.

Surviving are her three children Justin (Sara) Crandall of Alma, Amber (Jimmy) Carreiro of Vestaburg, Tosha (Jimmy) Harris of Lakeview; ten grandchildren, Madison, Kaden, Cole, Trenten, Eathen, Khloe, JJ , JR, Mila, and Leo; one great-grandchild, Atticus; five siblings, Rick Meekma (Elisse) of Stanton, LeAnn Meekma-Morris (Rick) of Okechobee, Larry Crandall of Hubert, Donna Gehringer of Mason, Steve (Carrie) Crandall of Mason; and many nieces and nephews and special friends.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday August 9th, 2026 at 1:00pm. at the Crystal Township Hall (217 E. Park Street, Crystal). If sending flowers please make sure they are delivered to the hall after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

A celebration of life/birthday celebration for mom will be held Saturday September 12, 2026 at 3:00 p.m., at her home; 84 North Crystal Rd, Crystal, MI 48818 more details to come.
