Linda Kay Ross

December 4, 1954 — February 21, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Kay Ross (Varney), of Sidney, who left us on February 21, 2025, at the age of 70. The daughter of Roger L. Updike & Jeanne Lorraine (Cotter) DeBeaumont, she was born on December 4, 1954, and was a graduate of Belding High School and Montcalm Community College. Linda was a devoted 33-year employee at the former Electrolux Home Products and after the plant closed, she earned her associate degree in nursing, and worked as a Registered Nurse at Sheridan Community Hospital and the former Heartland HealthCare Center in Ionia. Linda was a beloved Mother, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and friend. She will be remembered for her unconditional love, her kindness to everyone, and her loyalty to all her family and friends. In her life, she would strive to uplift those around her, she told it as it was, but always had a warm smile, a comforting word, sharp wit, and continuously offered a helping hand. Her generous spirit was evident by simply being there for friends and family in times of need. Linda had an infectious laugh, or as most who know can attest, a hilarious snort when she really got laughing, and a zest for life that inspired everyone she met. She cherished her relationships, nurturing deep connections with friends and family alike. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandkids and making special memories with them wherever they went. Her home was always open, filled with love and laughter, and her kitchen was a gathering place for those lucky enough to share in her culinary delights. Linda left an indelible mark on the hearts of many and will be remembered for her selfless nature and the joy she brought to all of us. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jerry Ross, and daughter, Rachel Jean Varney. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her son, Dustin “Duke” (Kristen) Varney; grandkids, Olivia and Nash Varney; stepson, Chris (Wendy) Gallagher; sister, Cindy Molter; niece, Jennifer (Dave) Johnson; nephews, Sam Molter, Andy (Leah) Molter, and John Molter; aunt, Joyce Weller; and many cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and countless friends who will miss her warmth and compassion, including her dog, Allie. A celebration of Linda’s life is being planned and will be announced at a later date. Rest in peace, our sweet Linda. Your legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
