Mrs. Lilia E. Baker, age 92, of Bay City, formerly of Greenville and Saginaw, passed away Saturday morning, Dec. 30, 2006 at the Bay County Medical Care Facility in Essexville. The daughter of William & Mamie (Carter) Humphrey, she was born on Sept. 10, 1914 near Alto. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Lilia had also worked at Saginaw Furniture Manufacturing Company. She enjoyed bowling and fishing, and was a member of the ladies auxiliaries of both the American Legion Post in Greenville and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Belding, in addition to being a member of the Moose Lodge in Rose City. She also loved to sew... delighting in making things for her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Baker on Sept. 15, 1994; a daughter, Sandra Haas; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Main; three sisters; and two brothers.
Surviving are three daughters and four sons-in-law, Glenda & Gerry Falasz of Bay City, Linda & Bob Yarger, Helen & Ed McMillon, all of Gladwin, and Donald Haas of Clifford Lake; one son, Lavern Main of Grand Rapids; her former husband and the father of her children, Oscar Main of Vassar; twenty-three grandchildren; many, many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with Pastor Kendall Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. Burial will follow privately at Spencer Mills Cemetery near Lincoln Lake. Visitation is Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association will be available.
