Lewis Foss

Lewis Russell Foss, age 77, of rural Belding, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Russell & Lavina (Braford) Foss, he was born on April 17, 1938 in Belding and was a veteran of the U.S Air Force. A master craftsman, he worked for over 62 years in the construction trade and owned Lewis Foss Builders. He also had a life long love for antique cars and trucks and spent many hours restoring vintage automobiles. Lewis delighted in exhibiting his vehicles at car shows throughout the area and visiting with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Irene Slosser; and his special lady friend and companion, JoAnne Mercer. Surviving are a daughter, Sheryl Bunce & Carl Durkin of Fenwick; a son, Rick & Miranda Foss of Palo; a brother, Raymond & Ruth Foss of Alabama; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside committal services are at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, officiating. Family and friends that wish to join Lewis in one last vintage car and truck cruise will gather at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and then process to the cemetery.
