It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Letha Mae DeBruine, who left us peacefully in her home in Grand Rapids, MI, on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at the age of 87. Letha was born on May 26, 1937, in Grand Rapids, MI. She worked diligently in data entry for Spartan Stores, showcasing her commitment and precision over many years. A woman of many talents and interests, Letha was an avid knitter and seamstress, and she took great pleasure in solving crossword puzzles, reading, and playing the organ. Her musical talents were recognized and cherished by many, particularly through her lifelong dedication to The Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as the Grand Organist for the State of Michigan. Her involvement extended to numerous Masonic organizations, where she was an active and esteemed member. Letha’s memory will be cherished by her loving family including her daughters, Charlotte Piskun and Susan Dine; son, John DeBruine and his wife Ruth; grandchildren, Caroline (Tyler) Wood, Matthew Piskun, Jessica (Michael) Hebmbroff, Charlotte (partner, Nigel Haran) Cody, Nicole DeBruine, Amanda DeBruine, and Mike (Tori) DeBruine; great-grandchildren, Lucas Hembroff, Carter Hembroff, and Brody DeBruine; brothers-in-law, Richard (Marianne) DeBruine and David (Kathy) DeBruine; sister-in-law, Joan Waalkes; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Letha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald DeBruine, with whom she shared many wonderful years. Letha’s family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who have shown their support and condolences during this difficult time. A private service will be held to honor Letha’s life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to a charity of one’s choice in Letha’s memory. Letha Mae DeBruine will be remembered for her warmth, her dedication to her family and community, and her boundless spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
