LeRoy John "Jack" Fuhrman, age 85, of Turk Lake, Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, December 11, 2013 at his home under the loving care of his family and Great Lakes Caring & Hospice. The son of William & Elsie (Stevenson) Fuhrman, he was born on June 13, 1928 in Reese and at the age of 18 he began working as a tree trimmer with Consumers Power Company. On September 30, 1950, in Greenville, he married Marjorie L. Cooper and just two months later he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Following the war, he returned home to Marge and together they had three children and enjoyed over 63 years of marriage. Jack retired from Consumers Energy as a lineman, was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and had been a member of the Stanton American Legion Post 452 and later the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 in Greenville. An avid hunter and fisherman, his family will fondly remember his as "Montcalm County's best deer hunter." He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Margie Fuhrman in 1956; a daughter, Susan Warvel on April 11, 1995; a sister, Mary Crossland; and six brothers, Robert, David, Forest, Donald, Richard and Mick Fuhrman. Surviving are his wife, Marge Fuhrman of Turk Lake; their son, LeRoy John Fuhrman, Jr. of Greenville; a son-in-law, John & Christie Warvel of Danville; a brother, Rex Fuhrman of Alma; two grandchildren, Timothy & Miya Warvel of Dansville, and Jennifer & Trevor Hall of Cookeville, Tennessee; six great grandchildren, Brandy and Karley Warvel, and Danica, Devin, Reed, and Alana Hall; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Jack's life on Tuesday, July 8th from 2-4 p.m. in the banquet room at the Turk Lake Restaurant, 161 S. Turk Lake Drive, Greenville, where military honors rendered by the U.S. Army will take place and a time to share memories, food, and fellowship will follow.
