Leona Bronson

Leona Belle (Russell) Bronson, age 92, of Fennville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. She was born October 17, 1932, in Casco Township, Michigan, to the late Harold and Frances (Bushee) Russell. She married the love of her life, Chester Bronson on August 23, 1951. Together they raised three children and celebrated 42 years of marriage together before Chester passed away on October 18, 1993. Leona worked nearly 30 years at Heinz Pickle Plant in Holland before retiring in 1988. After retirement Leona and Chester moved to Bear Lake, Michigan, where Leona remained until 2024, when she moved to Fennville, MI, to be closer to family. She was a lifelong and loyal member of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include her son, Duane Bronson; son-in-law, Efren Lozano; grandchildren, John (Emily) Bronson, Stacey Johnson, and Tim (Angela) Zuverink; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Audrey Bronson, Brianna and Kayla Johnson, and Skylar, Tiffany, and Austin Zuverink; brothers, Richard (Sheryl) Russell and Larry Russell; sister-in-law, Diane Russell; and several nieces and nephews. Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chester; two daughters, Lawanda Sue Zuverink Quillin and Brenda Lou Lozano; sister, Hazel Marie (Edgar) Guigue; and brothers, Allen “Tink” Russell and Harold “Jr.” Russell. Per Leona’s wishes cremation has taken place. Graveside services will take place in the spring in Bear Lake and details will be announced as soon as they become available. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Disabled American Veterans, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or a charity of your choosing.
