View Video Tribute Mr. Leo Edward Block, age 89, of Greenville, passed away Sunday evening, April 13, 2008 at Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital, East Grand Rapids. The son of Edward & Bertha (Kreeger) Block, he was born on Sept. 4, 1918 on his parents farm near Sidney. A veteran of World War II, Leo proudly served with the U.S. Army in the Asiatic-Pacific theater and aided in the liberation of Guadalacanal and the Solomon Islands, earning the Bronze Star and a Distinguished Unit Citation. While his family brought him the most joy in life, he also enjoyed tinkering in the garage, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and was an avid reader. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Diane; a brother, Edward Junior Block, a sister-in-law, Evelyn Christensen, and her husband, LaVern Christensen. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Sheila Block of Greenville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma & Phil Bard of Fennville, and Nancy & Dave Kluzak of Greenville; four grandchildren, Mark Bard of Alexandria, Virginia, Karrie Walker of Plainwell, Jeff Kluzak, and Kristine Kluzak, all of Greenville; siblings-in-law, Paul & Beatrice Wordon of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 17, 2008 from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Greenville, with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Military honors, rendered by the Lester J.
