Laurie Wilson

Laurie Jo Wilson, age 84, passed away on April 22, 2024. She was born in Belmont, Wisconsin in 1939. Thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Clark Retirement Home (Grand Rapids, Michigan) and Faith Hospice for your loving care and attention to Laurie. Laurie was an independent woman of adventure and kindness who lived a full life. She survived breast cancer and participated in fund-raising walks for charities. Laurie was a huge Green Bay Packers fan and met Bart Starr many times. She honed her photography skills at workshops across the Midwest. Laurie was very active in ‘Volkssport’ (walking clubs), completing walks in all 50 states and many foreign countries, documenting them all in beautiful scrapbooks. Laurie made many friends and loved spending time with them all. For three years, Laurie was a rural one-room schoolteacher in Boscobel, Wisconsin, where she saved a child’s life on the playground. She moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan, in 1966, and spent 40 years working at Union Bank/NBD/BankOne.
