Laura Jewell

Laura Belle Jewell, age 84, of Belding, passed away Thursday, August 7, 2014 at Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids. The daughter of Floyd & Edna (Crankshaw) Orvis, she was born on October 30, 1929 in Belding. On Sept. 17, 1952, in Belding, she married Jack Nelson Jewell and together they enjoyed 53 years of marriage until Jack passed away on January 22, 2006. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Hoyte "Buck" Jewell and Jim Jewell. A devoted wife and mother, Laura was also an avid reader and enjoyed family genealogy and scrapbooking. Surviving are her children, Royal & Sharon Jewell of Morley, Earl Nelson & Tessie Jewell of Belding, and Cindy Green of Belding; two daughters-in-law, Karen Jewell of Millersburg, Indiana, and Marlene Wait of White Pigeon; two sisters, Evelyn & David Buffum and Jeanette & Jim Hulliberger, all of Belding; Jack's brothers and sisters, Ronald & Mary Jewell, Bernard & Karen Jewell, Narva & Forrest Champlin, Judy & Terry Sears, Joan & Gordon Hunt, Sandy & Donald Tromp, and Lois & Jim Kinney; eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
