Mr. Larry Corwin Pelton, age 65, of Sand Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 30, 2010 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, surrounded by his loving family and friends, after a long battle with cancer.
The son of Corwin & Ruth (Thompson) Pelton, he was born on June 12, 1945 in Pierson. After graduating from high school, Larry enlisted with the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. Larry had worked as a plumber with Blakeslee & Son and Gohler's.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son-in-law, Justin Marble.
Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer Marble; a granddaughter, Felicia Marble; two sisters, Connie (Jesse) Ashley, and Susan (Thomas) Simcoe; two brothers, Patrick (Michele) Pelton, and Dale (Tina) Pelton; step-brothers and step- sisters, Jeff (Sarah) Stephen, Nola (John) Saviskas, Kelly Boland and Jesse Graham; several special nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Sandy Maqurie.
Visitation is from 12-1 p.m. on Friday, September 3, from 12-1 p.m. in the chapel of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Avenue N.E., where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Military honors, rendered by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard, will conclude the ceremonies and burial will take place privately at Pierson Township Cemetery.
