Kennethy Eugene Emanuel was born in Marion County, Florida, to Mary Elizabeth Emanuel and Willie Frank Emanuel. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Kenneth was a man whose presence brought comfort, laughter, music, and love to those around him.
Kennethy loved spending time with his family, especially taking road trips and watching sports, most of all cheering on his grandchildren from the sidelines. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing basketball and later became well known for always being ready for a game of spades, his favorite card game. Music was a constant in his life, and if you knew Kennethy, you knew the radio was never far away. Whether through conversation, laughter, or simply sitting together listening to music, he found joy in the little moments shared with the people he loved.
In 1983, Kennethy moved to Michigan and began working at Fisher Body in 1984. He worked hard throughout his life and built lasting relationships with family and friends who will forever cherish his memory. He also shared many years of memories and family ties with Shannon Tweedie, who remained an important part of his life story.
One of the greatest blessings of Kennethy’s life was the special bond he shared with his daughter, Brittany. For the past decade, Brittany lovingly cared for her father with unwavering devotion, compassion, and strength. Through every high and low, every difficult moment and every laugh shared between them, the two were inseparable, truly a package deal. Their connection was built on deep love, loyalty, and friendship, and the memories they created together will forever live on in the hearts of those who witnessed their bond.
Kennethy was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Elizabeth and Willie Frank Emanuel; his sister, Gail Edwards; his brothers, Willie Frank Emanuel Jr. and Gregory Emanuel; and his beloved grandson, Da’Vion Deanthony Perry-Webb.
He leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Edward “Colleen” Emanuel; his sister, Brenda Emanuel; his children Brittany “Cameron,” Jorden “Samantha,” Isiah, Kennethy Jr., and Deva; and many loved ones whose lives were touched by his kindness, humor, and presence.
He also leaves behind his grandchildren Jorden Jr., Addison, and Zanayah; honorary grandchildren Alayah, Deron, DeShawn, Denzel and Traishon; nieces and nephews Leon “Frannie” Popp, Nicole Emanuel, Andrew “Kimberly” Emanuel, and Walter “Regina” Smith and Monica Emanuel; as well as honorary nieces Aneissa and Anchella, along with many extended family members and dear friends who loved him deeply.
Kennethy’s love, humor, strength, and presence will never be forgotten. The memories he created with those he loved will continue to live on in every story shared, every song played, and every gathering filled with laughter.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
