My dearest Kenny,
When we said, "I love you," and wished each other good night, we never imagined that two hours later you would slip peacefully and quietly away into God's waiting arms.
I held your handsome, still face, and gave you one last, long kiss and thanked you for loving me these fifty-five years. After our "I do's," we made it through all the "good times and bad; for richer or poorer; in sickness and in health" together. And now, I need to face "in death do us part" without you. But you will always be with me; and our children, who are our best accomplishment, will take good care of each other and me. I will so deeply miss you and hearing your voice saying, "thank you," or you giving me directions because I'm always lost, or you saying "I love you." But you have always put me first, and so I thank God, He took you so gently, before you couldn't breathe anymore or move about. My joy for you will help my intense ache.
All our love, always and forever,
Mary
Amy, Tony, Matt, John, Nick, Joe, Luke, spouses, and twenty-two much loved grandchildren
