Kenneth Baker

Kenneth Jay Baker, age 81, of Greenville, passed away early Tuesday morning, March 18, 2025 at home surrounded by his family under the care of Corewell Health Hospice. The son of Henry & Genevieve (Bigelow) Baker, he was born January 23, 1944 in Grand Rapids. On October 27, 1977 in Greenville, he married Bonita “Bonnie” Scofield, and together they enjoyed over 47 years of marriage and raised three children. A proud veteran of the United States Army Special Forces during the Vietnam War, he earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnamese Campaign Medal. For several decades, Ken and Bonnie owned M-57 Body Shop west of Greenville. In his retirement, he enjoyed racing, target shooting, the Detroit Lions, and the Detroit Tigers; but nothing was more important to him than his family. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Genevieve Baker; and four nieces. Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; their children, John & Teresa Fint, Ray Darling & Michelle Laisure, and Kendra & Tony Campbell; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; his sister, Karen & Tom Lance; two nieces; and his brother-in-law, Jack Scofield. Graveside committal services, with military honors rendered jointly by the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post No. 101 and the U.S. Army, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
