Ken Dines

October 20, 1917 — February 10, 2006

Mr. Ralph Kenneth Dines, age 88, formerly of Greenville and Baldwin, passed away late Friday morning, Feb. 10, 2006 at Kendallville Manor Nursing Home in Kendallville, Indiana. The son of George Lorenzo & Christine (Dard) Dines, he was born on Oct. 20, 1917 in Rockford, grew up in the Rockford-Belmont area, and graduated from Rockford High School. On Aug. 5, 1944, in Greenville, he married the former Helen Louise Lincoln. Ken retired from the former Gibson Refrigerator Company where he worked as a repairman. He had been a member of UAW Local 137, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen L. Dines on Jan. 14, 1990; his son, Ray A. Dines on July 6, 1999; a son-in-law, Dennis Brill; and his daughter Carols fiance, Terry Brooks. Surviving are four daughters, Kathleen & Larry Wright of Lansing, Carol Hagen of Greenville, Kennetta & Jim Lemon of Kendallville, Indiana, and Mae Ingersoll of Lakeview; a daughter-in-law, Debra Dines of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Greenville; a brother-in-law, Allen & Nancy Lincoln of Greenville; eight grandchildren; and nineteen great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, 2006 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. The Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of First Congregational Church, will officiate. Visitation is Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and also on Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Envelopes for memorial contributions to Boy Scouts of America or American Heart Association will be available at the funeral home.
